Yes! I heard that too. I used to have hundreds of them in my back yard and it was always a beautiful time of year to sit back and watch them. So sad.

Hi Wendy, nice to have the information. I heard pesticide use was a problem too. A real shame what we do.

Description
In Manitoba this year I have noticed so few Monarch butterflies and have only been lucky enough to capture only 2 this year. Upon further exploration of this decline I discovered that this issue started years ago with urban sprawl, but were worsened two years ago during a major drought in the U.S. That caused flowers to empty of nectar, and milkweed plants to die off, leading to the death of thousand of the winged insects. This photo taken this year is of a Rare Monarch sharing a meal.
